'Right to abortion' enslaves women, expert warns

Madrid, Spain, Jan 16, 2010 / 01:08 am (CNA).- Iñigo Urien Azpitarte, an expert on violence against women warned this week that the “right to abortion” championed by feminists and abortion supporters ends up enslaving women because they are turned into instruments of sexual gratification.

“If the woman can abort without restrictions, the man is free of any responsibility as father,” leaving the “woman as his tool of sexual gratification in a position of ‘non-equality’,” Azpitarte said.

Speaking with the organization “Professionals for Ethics,” he added that women also can come out on the losing end if they decide to keep the child, because the father will say she chose not to exercise her “right to an abortion.” He can then easily escape responsibility for the child's future.

In these sense, he explained, access to “abortion on demand” has affected relations between men and women. “It is not uncommon to hear young people, and not-so-young people, say that they are in favor of abortion because they do not like to use condoms. Thus, if a man thinks that abortion is an easily accessible option for a woman, he will easily feel disconnected from her and leave her with an unwanted pregnancy - since she can easily obtain an abortion.”

“While it is true that some women can resist pressure and refuse to abort, the legalization of abortion creates a vicious circle from which many others cannot escape,” he said.

The right to abortion is one of those legal notions thought to be “liberating” that actually jeopardizes women, putting them in a situation of profound inequality, Azpitarte stated before criticizing the Socialist government in Spain for not supporting pregnant women.

The most common cause of death of pregnant women is murder because they will not abort. 64% of women who have had abortions report that they were coerced into the procedure. 95% of women who have had abortions say that their decision had to do with their significant other. With all of these statistics, you would think that people would get the picture that abortion is a choice AGAINST women. When will society learn?

The early feminists - in the UK, Mary Wollestonecraft and later Sylvia Pankhurst - spoke out against abortion as damaging to women, as well as killing the preborn. They recognised only too clearly the disastrous impact that it would have on personal relationships; their condemnations also extended to birth control. For the same reasons, libertarians like H G Wells advocated this aspect of 'feminism'; he tried to persuade his mistress Rebecca West, the liberated feminist writer, to abort his child, but she refused. Abortion did not liberate women but libertarian men who did not want their sexual relationships spoiled by the fear of pregnancy. Early feminists feared that abortion/birth control would undermine female solidarity, since women would be expected to assent to unwanted sexual relationships in order to find a partner; this has come to pass: it is now seen as normal for girls to have sex but not to have babies.

My Mother was the centerpiece of our family. She was a housewife. She was revered and respected as a woman. She enjoyed more respect than any working woman that I can think of these days. Sex for her was sacred. She told me that I was the temple of God and that I should be Holy. She died in 2006 at age 89. My Father and Mother were married 66 years when she died. My Father is a healthy 91 now. A good woman makes a good man and vice versa. No woman should ever sell herself short. Save yourself for the one you know that you will really love and will wish to spend you life with. A man may propose a marriage but the woman must accept. Don't tell me the woman doesn't have power. After all it is the ladies choice to decide one way or the other. Don't be used,be loved! Make a Holy Marriage the goal of a lifetime. God bless all woman! That is God's choice for all of you to have a man to marry and to have children to raise in the love of Christ. What a great life and what a great vocation. There is nothing that is ever wrong with being a housewife or a working married woman,as that is real gratification!
